Melissa Iwai
Melissa Iwai is an author-illustrator with more than 30 illustrated children’s books to her name. Old school in her process—Melissa begins each project with a pencil sketch and her box of watercolor paints—she enjoys incorporating both traditional media and digital software in her work. Melissa received her BFA in illustration from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Denis Markell, their teenage son and a Shibu Inu named Nikki.
After much practice, Melissa can now finish the New York Times crossword puzzle every day of the week.
