Karolina Sato

When Karolina Sato first left her native Poland to study in The Land of the Rising Sun, she found her spiritual home and never looked back. She met her husband on campus by chance and married in a traditional Japanese ceremony soon after. The couple lives happily in a Tokyo high-rise with their beautiful daughter. On weekends, the family enjoys mountain treks and walks in nearby parks; each summer, they tour Europe. Karolina prefers reading to watching movies as she likes imagining the settings and characters. An avid reader, she immerses herself in genres ranging from crime novels to poetry. Karolina, a multidisciplinary artist, specializes in Nihonga, traditional Japanese painting, a practice she finds immersive and meditative. Her colorful and vibrant artworks often include classic flora and fauna motifs.
Karolina can intentionally switch her brainwaves – from beta to alpha and back – a skill she gained while working on an innovative tech-science experiment.
