Emily King and Nicole Couto are the dynamic duo behind 2021Co. These best friends began their business creating uplifting greeting cards designed to make the world better, one painterly, hand-lettered card at a time. Though they live in different states, Emily in Massachusetts and Nicole in Rhode Island meet weekly for lattes and brainstorming. They self-describe as yin and yang: Emily is the introvert, and Nicole is the extrovert. Emily is organized, and Nicole is a self-proclaimed hot mess. Emily is the mom to three kids, one dog, three cats, and a black belt in Krav Maga. Nicole is the empty nester who loves renovating her coastal historic home with her husband. Emily is a pescatarian foody, and Nicole is an annoyingly picky eater who hasn’t tried anything new since she was ten, Emily paints, draws, and letters; Nicole ideates and writes winning copy. Emily is disciplined; Nicole is unruly. Both ladies are generous spirits with a mission to give back.
